MEM chief executive Steven Ayres said that the company is now in 'advanced stages of discussions' with the buyer, whose identity has not been disclosed. Ayers insisted the studios were not put up for sale but that an offer was made on them.

The Wembley-based studios, which have been used to film ITV's The X Factor, are expected to continue operating as a studio once the sale is completed. The studios are among the largest of their kind in the UK - with around 45 staff - and are expected to fetch at least £5m.
