West London-based editing equipment hire firm Salon has made a new investment in Avid systems including six Media Composer Nitris DX systems, two Media Composer Mojo DX systems and one Avid Unity Media Network.

“The uptake of Avid’s latest generation hardware has gone from strength to strength,” says Salon Director, Nick Long.

Part of the new investment is already in use on Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans which started shooting in the UK in May and is currently editing in HD on five Avid Media Composers connected to a Unity Network.

In addition, Salon are supplying DX systems to Peter Weir’s The Way Back and animated feature Planet 51. Salon supplied Nitris DX systems to director Andrea Arnold for her feature Fish Tank.

“Right now we have DX’s on hire in Morocco, Bulgaria, Tenerife and London.”  says Long.  “It is an exciting time and it is just set to get busier through 2009 as we continue to invest and expand our offering.”
