Former Olympus president Graeme Chapman has taken over as managing director at Polecam.

Chapman has also taken a “significant” stake in the company, which Polecam said would help it to expand in the UK and Europe.

Steffan Hewitt, who founded Polecam in 1998, has stepped down as managing director of the Bedford-headquartered firm.

As director, he will concentrate on product development and sales.  

Chapman, who was president of Olympus consumer division and UK managing director at Olympus UK, said: “Polecam is a unique company with fantastic products.

“Steffan Hewitt, the current owner has ambitious plans for the company and my joining will enable those plans to be realised.”

Chapman has formed a board made up of himself, Hewitt and Jonathan Lewis of Reid and Co, who has been appointed to the newly created role of financial director.
