Oxygen DCT has launched a custom-built Land Rover Discovery for field and on-set recording.

Equipped with Cinedeck recorders and Apple’s Final Cut Pro editing system, the vehicle is designed for use by a one or two-person television or film production team.

Cinedeck RX dual channel recorders allow for recording and playback of up to four camera chains with recorded material ready to edit using FCP.

Managing director of Oxygen DCT Steve Hathaway said it is a response to market demand for fast turnaround and durable live productions.

He said: “Before Cinedeck’s tapeless workflow, VTR decks would have been required for recording productions and the space required for this alone would have precluded the possibility of such a system in a relatively small vehicle.”

Oxygen DCT said the vehicle is the result of close collaboration with Broadcast Networks, which designed and built the vehicle.
