Peel Media has appointed BBC Studios and Post Production’s Andy Waters as the new head of studios for MediaCityUK.

Waters is currently one of a number of Resource Managers responsible for independent external business at BBC S&PP, a role that includes working with indies, BBC Entertainment and ITV Studios.

Chief executive Sinead Greenaway said the appointment was a “key” one for MediaCityUK and that Waters’ “vast experience” at both the BBC and with the commercial sector would be “a great asset to our team as we move towards studio operational mode by the end of 2010”.

Owned and operated by Peel Media, the MediaCityUK studio block will include seven HD television studios, two audio studios and a technical block featuring sound and vision control rooms, core post facilities, a central technical area, set storage and green rooms.

Waters said he was excited to be involved in “a fantastic opportunity to create a 21st century studio facility at Salford Quays”.

Waters’ start date is still to be confirmed.
