Pinewood Shepperton is planning to expand its television facilities following a 17% rise in business over the last six months.

The studios are in talks with local planning authorities to increase stage space by half over the next ten years. The proposed growth would increase the film and television stages by up to one million sq ft.

Pinewood Shepperton confirmed that the television studios were included in the planning application but did not confirm to what extent. Director of television Rachel Joseph said: 'There are plans to expand and we are in talks with the local authorities.'

A company spokesman added: 'There is going to be investment in both studio enhancement and in optimising our facilities. We have a commitment to the media park and post production as well.'

The studios' interm figures showed a 17% rise in turnover to £6m for the television facilities, up from £5.14m in the same period last year. New and returning series such as Weakest Link, All about Me and Everything that I know about Men kept the television studios busy for the period.
