Pinewood Studios has appointed Centroid as its preferred supplier of motion capture services to the group’s three UK studios.

Centroid, which has offices at Pinewood and Shepperton Studios, provides optical and head-mounted camera systems.

The company’s credits span film, TV and video games and include features such as upcoming James Bond film Spectre, Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as broadcast work for Appsolute Genius with Dick and Dom and Nina and the Neurons.

Pinewood’s head of business development Jules Robinson said: “This will offer our clients a creative, cost effective, and innovative service.

“Centroid’s motion capture experience is second to none and so we are pleased to have created this partnership and to be able to offer it to our clients.”

Pinewood said the arrangement built on the group’s “expanding service offering”, including the provision of 3D printing, lighting and grip services.

Centroid chief executive Phil Stilgoe added:  “This new partnership between Pinewood and Centroid is a significant step in developing a greater connection to the studios existing cutting edge services and we look forward to incorporating our strengths and capabilities in the VFX broadcast sector.

“Centroid welcomes this opportunity to further establish our business and to be able to offer our range of services within the group’s framework.”
