The VFX house provided invisible fixes, world extensions and period car additions for the three-part limited series about the 1992 murder of Rachel Nickell

The Witness is a three-part limited drama series based on the true events surrounding the murder of Rachel Nickell on Wimbledon Common in 1992.

Written by Rob Williams and starring Jordan Bolger, Max Fincham and Neil Maskell, the series has become one of Netflix’s trending titles in the UK since its release.

Produced by STV Studios, The Witness is an intimate, emotionally powerful piece of British drama that demanded attention to period detail and atmosphere.

Space Digital’s visual effects team supported the production across all three episodes, helping to recreate the authenticity central to its storytelling.

Space delivered 140 VFX shots across the series. The work included invisible fixes, world extensions and period car additions. Space Digital describes it as subtle, precise work that grounds the early 1990s setting and keeps audiences fully immersed in the story.

Matt Wood, Space Digital, said: “There’s no greater complement to our team to have such top industry talent trust us with the most challenging and important scenes in their show. The art of VFX isn’t always about creating a spectacle, sometimes it’s weeks of meticulous work to just keep the audience focused on the tension and the drama of the moment. That’s the kind of challenge we love and if nobody notices any VFX work in The Witness it will have been worth the effort.”
