BVE 2015: More than a dozen post facilities are using the Insert Edit function of Root6’s Content Agent workflow and automation tool, according to the technology firm.

The Insert Edit option, which was demonstrated by Root6 Technology at IBC last year, allows editors to make changes to video or audio in Content Agent-created AS-11 UK DPP files without the need for re-wrapping or transcoding.

Root6 said that one of the first facilities to employ Insert Edit was MediaCityUK-based facility 3sixtymedia.

3sixtymedia technical manager Taig McNab described the transition to file-based delivery as “a smooth process with both production teams and technical staff taking the changes in their stride.”

He said: “The Insert Edit feature from ContentAgent is incredibly quick and simple and has improved cost efficiencies in making late changes to files.”

Splice head of machine room Eddie Nuttall added: “The ability to make last-minute changes to broadcast deliverables is a prerequisite.

“In the move to file-based delivery we’ve found ContentAgent to be a huge time-saver. Not only can we automate the generation and QC of AS-11 UK DPP compliant files but we can use the Insert Edit function to avoid the massive inconvenience of re-encoding large files, giving us the flexibility formerly associated with tape.”
