The P2 Varicam 2700 (pictured) and 3000 have both been added to the current file-based shooters from Sony.

The hire company says it identified the opportunity to equip new customers working in different genres, particularly drama and documentaries.

Duncan Martin, the managing director of Pro Motion Hire, said: “The acquisition of the P2 kit means we can offer the same high standard of tapeless kit and customer service to new producers and cameramen working in different genres and for different broadcasters than we’re used to dealing with. It’s a very exciting time for Pro Motion Hire.”

Marc Irwin, Panasonic’s UK Marketing Manager, said: “This [deal] gives Panasonic another London base offering P2 to production and reinforces the need for high end tapeless workflow in all genres of programming. We expect there will be a high demand for these camcorders and Pro Motion will soon be requesting more cameras.”

Pro Motion Hire will be exhibiting within The Production Show at Broadcast Video Expo 2010 on stand N56.

BVE takes place 16-18 February at Earls Court 2 in London.
