Manufacturer Quantel has adapted its Generation Q editing and server systems to accept material captured on Panasonic's new solid-state cameras.

The coupling of the two technologies will enable material acquired on Panasonic camcorders - and stored on the Professional Plug-in cards (P2) - to be either directly transferred into Quantel editing and server systems via a standard PCMCIA interface, or to be played back from the P2 cards and edited directly with the Quantel user interface.

The availability of this Quantel/P2 "interoperability" is expected to coincide with Panasonic's first deliveries of P2- card-based products, including camera/recorders and VTR-style recorders, early next year.
