Red Post Production has been forced to make eight staff redundant.

No frontline creatives have been let go and all the jobs have gone from what managing director Stephen Luther calls "support functions". Luther, explaining the decision, said: "We were looking to bring our cost base down. And although it's unfortunate for the people involved, the company is now in a more stable financial position."

As a result, the company's workforce has been cut by about a quarter. Red, which does graphics, effects and editing for broadcast, commercials, film and pop promos, now employs around 30 staff. The redundancies were made at the end of last week.

Red's credits include idents for Discovery and Channel 4.
