Avid has updated the software on its DS effects, compositing and graphics system so that it can support the Red Rocket accelerator card.

Version 10.3 has been optimised to handle Red, 2K and ARRIRAW projects.

Support for the Red Rocket allows .R3D files to be decoded, alleviating that process from the CPU and allowing artists to reference pre-composited effects.

Other features include:

Native conform from Avid Media Composer for .R3D and ARRIRAW files. This enables customers to instantly recreate complete timeline information, including effects, titles and colour, for real-time playback and faster rendering.

AVX2 support. This provides customers with a path for total conform of visual effects that are first generated in Media Composer and Avid Symphony editing systems.  The AVX2 plug-in interface makes it possible to use Boris FX and Sapphire effects in DS from any offline Avid project.

DS version 10.3 is available now for £310.
