Content processing facility Re:fine has launched an automated digitisation service.

Dubbed Re:finery, the Omneon and Flexi cart-based system can convert 300 hours of tape a day into mezzanine formats such as Apple Pro Res, MXF, AVC Intra and DNX.

The system, which has been in beta testing for the past 12 months, is being used by US clip sales firm T3 Media as its European ingest point.

Re:fine chairman Symon Roue said: “Tape libraries are degrading rapidly, making format migration an imperative if irreplaceable content is not to be lost forever.”
