Eye Animation, which was forced to close six months ago due to the advertising recession, has reopened as Bird Studios.

Ian Bird, formerly creative director at Eye and now the owner of the new company, said that Eye closed because "most of our work was ads, but that sector was in deep depression - with the loss of the heads of TV and the Mexican stand-off between ITV companies and actual advertisers. We were being asked to present full animatics and storyboards for no cash. You can't sustain that."

The studio's core business will be TV work, corporates and promos.
