Siemens has emerged as a surprise ninth contender for the purchase of BBC Technology. The shortlist already includes EDS, Capita, Accenture, IBM, Logica, CSC, Fujitsu and HP. Three finalists will be chosen by the end of April with the winner announced in the summer. The news followed the sacking of BBC Technology managing director Anne Wilson for 'misusing hospitality'. Head of the BBC's press office Donald Steel said: 'The sale will not be affected by this. We have a timetable in place for the sale of BBCT and this will remain unchanged.'
