Sky is using Elemental’s video processing and workflow control software to deliver content to its Sky Go and Now TV platforms.

Now TV is Sky’s contract-free, over-the-top service, while Sky Go is the broadcaster’s mobile TV service.

Sky is using Elemental Live as the video processing engine in a workflow controlled by Elemental Conductor for its OTT offering.

During live streaming, Sky channel IP inputs are fed to Elemental Live software, which will encode original and aggregated linear content in real time for delivery to mobile devices and the web.

For Sky’s video on demand workflow, Elemental Server systems transcode content into multiple formats and encrypt it for output to devices including Apple TV over Skys content delivery network. 

Sky director of broadcast services Matt McDonald said: “We love to give our viewers the flexibility to choose how, where and when they watch their favourite shows.

“Elemental offers the platform we require for live video and VOD streaming and rapid deployment of new services that delight customers.”
