The Six Mexico Major was one of the standout esports events of 2021. Following global qualifiers, the top teams from North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin-America travelled to Mexico to play Ubisoft’s first-person shooter game Rainbow Six Siege and win a share of the $500,000 (£363,000) prize pool.

FACEIT handled the production, broadcast and distribution of the show worldwide. It was one of the largest esports events run by a UK company since the start of the global pandemic.

Two simultaneous live broadcasts covered the action from Mexico City and more than 60 hours of content was produced over the six days.

As part of its broadcasts, FACEIT used bespoke tools including API-driven stage effects, automatic live player cam switching, statistics engine and custom telestration tools. Viewers were able to watch the world’s best esports athletes compete in a production of the highest quality, with replays, live breakdowns and post-match analysis seamlessly delivered.

In total, 5.6 million hours of the Six Mexico Major 2021 were viewed, with a peak live audience of 121,600 and an average audience of 86,000.

Our judges said: “This was an incredibly ambitious task, but the team pulled it off with some staggering viewer figures. The expert use of tech made this entry a standout winner.”
