Podcast platform partners with Microsoft to add Premier League Companion stats to its shows

The Overlap

The Overlap has integrated data from Microsoft’s AI Copilot software into its shows.

The podcast platform has partnered with the tech giant until the end of the season, a deal which will see the Premier League Companion’s statistics integrated into its programmes. The partnership was agreed by Sky Media, and is alongside Microsoft being an official Premier League partner.

The integration will be visible in the likes of Stick To Football, The Breakdown, and The Fan Debate, as well as in social cutdowns and a 30-second TV commercial airing during Premier League matches.

Darren Hardman, CEO, Microsoft UK & Ireland, said: “By bringing our Copilot‑powered Premier League Companion into The Overlap, we’re putting real‑time, data‑driven insight at the heart of the conversation, helping pundits and fans go deeper, faster. This is how technology transforms the fan experience, making analysis more interactive and accessible while amplifying the authentic voices that shape the game. When data meets debate, every fan becomes a pundit.”

Gary Neville, Overlap founder, added: “I’ve been personally using Microsoft Copilot as a tool for some time and it’s helped me in all areas of my day-to-day life. I’m thrilled to bring them on as a partner and can’t wait to see how Copilot is used to inform the conversations we have on Stick to Football and across the Overlap Network.”

Karin Seymour, director of client & marketing, Sky Media, said: “This partnership brings together world-class football content and cutting-edge technology in a way that feels genuinely additive to the fan experience. By embedding Microsoft’s Premier League Companion within The Overlap’s most talked-about formats, we’re showing how brands can connect with and power culture, not interrupt it.”
