Platform added live video for all publishers earlier this year
Substack has added automated clipping of live streams as part of its expanding suite of video tools.
The social platform, which originally specialised in written newsletters, has increasingly moved towards video - with live streaming rolled out to all publishers earlier this year. Now when finished live streaming, Substack automatically generates short clips it predicts are likely to resonate with your audience. These are shared on its Notes page, and if a clip is shared widely then the creator is notified.
On iOS, users will also see how clips are performing in their video post stats, with the same tool to be added to Android next week. If a user has linked their YouTube account, then the top two clips will automatically be shared to their YouTube Shorts profile.
There are also more marketing tools, with promotional assets automatically created for sharing on Notes and other social channels. Creators can also invite people to watch via email or SMS - even if the potential viewers don’t have a Substack account.
Finally, content doesn’t have to be visual too, with an audio-only mode now added.
