Briefs featuring The Mill, JCA, The Coach House Studioes and Wohler from Broadcast magazine dated 27 February 2009.

Doctor Who picked up a Visual Effects Society award on Saturday for outstanding matte paintings in a broadcast programme or commercial. Artists Simon Wickers, Charlie Bennett, Tim Barter and Arianna Lago from The Mill were rewarded for their work on the series 4 episode Silence in the Library.

JCA has recruited Graham Davies as senior account executive. He has previously worked at Ascent Media and Technicolor. Among his new tasks, Davies will work with clients who want to use a recently opened digital film division that was created after JCA bought the assets of digital media services company Cine Image. JCA is a digital content management services provider.

The Coach House Studios is providing location edit suites for the third series of Tiger Aspect's ITV1 comedy Benidorm. Contracted by line producer Simon Bird, the production will use two full Avid systems and Raid storage arrays with Digibeta machines. The first two series used locally sourced kit but sterling's fall in value against the euro has made it cheaper to transport the suites from the UK.

Wohler Technologies has appointed reseller HHB Communications as its exclusive distributor in the UK. HHB will supply the full Wohler line of in-rack audio and video monitoring products (pictured) and become responsible for all sales and marketing activities.
