As BBC1’s landmark 20-year project Child Of Our Time reaches its midway point, presenters Professor Robert Winston and Sophie Raworth are attempting to capture the personality of the nation with this web project.

The Big Personality Test asks users to take a 20-minute test about their personalities, with the results resented in a personalised video fronted by Winston. It also hosts videos of celebrities such as Fay Ripley, Evan Davis and Lauren Laverne reflecting on their own results.

The project aims to test the theory that there are just five key personality traits: extroversion, neuroticism, openness, agreeableness and conscientiousness. It will explore the influence of these factors alongside education, geography and personal experiences.

The test is the second experiment designed and built by Lab UK, the corporation’s “citizen science” project that carries out mass-participation experiments online. Winston will share the findings of the latest test in the show next spring.
