Filmlight has sold a third Baselight 8 colour grading system to visual effects company The Mill.

The new system will be added to the company's New York office this month and will enable clients to grade a mixture of commercials, long-form and digital intermediate work.

The other two Baselight 8 systems are installed in the company's Soho facility.

Colourist Jamie Wilkinson, who worked closely with FilmLight's R&D team to develop and test new features, said: Baselight already has a proven track record in London, and FilmLight has the enthusiasm and commitment to continuously introduce and improve features.

“Baselight allows you to switch standards from SD to 4K without having to reposition your windows. Having unlimited layers and the ability to use mattes created in 3D amongst other things is another great plus.”

Baselight integrates with most SAN storage solutions. The system also has direct control of all telecine features on the Spirit range including primary grading and noise reduction.

This enables the colourist to replicate a traditional film-to-tape process whilst providing creative flexibility.
