The TV Collective (TVC) has launched a study that will reveal the best places to work in the media and entertainment industry in terms of ethnicity.

The first-of-its-kind probe will shine a spotlight on good employment practices in the hopes of inspiring an improved industry-wide standard.

The study will look to uncover employee satisfaction within the workplace, employers’ responses to Covid-19 and Black Lives Matter-related issues, as well as scoring employers on image, talent development and senior management diversity.

The aim is to conduct the study annually, showcasing where diverse voices are heard and culture is thriving, with Cardiff University’s Dr David Dunkley Gyimah and Lewis Silkin law firm overseeing alongside the TVC.

TVC founder Simone Pennant said the study will be able to see if “meaningful change” has been made as we pass the first anniversary of the tragic death of George Floyd.

“Now feels like the right time to ask the media, TV and production community what’s working,” she added.

“Our ultimate aim is to shine a light on best practice, as the more we can celebrate and showcase this, the more companies will want to hold themselves to account and maintain high diversity and inclusion standards.”
