Unit has recruited four senior VFX staff as part of its push for more short-form broadcast and commercials work.

Flame artists Chris Chitty and Rob Ellis have joined from Prime Focus, and another Prime Focus staffer, senior Smoke artist Ian Baker, will join the facility on 12 December.

Prime Focus said it is reviewing the positions.

Smoke & Mirrors 3D artist Robin Ernestrom joined Unit earlier this month. The post house’s headcount now stands at 52, up from 37 at the start of the year.

“We are also negotiating to take over an additional floor of our Great Marlborough Street building, to take us five floors,” Unit managing director Adam Luckwell told Broadcast.

“The current tenants don’t move until the end of February, so that is when it is likely to be tied up.”

Luckwell added that Unit would invest some £250,000 in two new Flames and a Smoke, together with a further eight seats for 3D work and five After Effects work stations.
