Vienna: Empire, Dynasty And Dream launched with 610,000/3%.

Vienna is famous for being Oh’d to death by Ultravox; as the name of Rigsby’s cat in Rising Damp; and as the place where I got conned into an hour of cello-scraping by someone claiming to be Mozart. There’s other stuff, but I’ll leave that to BBC4’s Simon Sebag Montefiore.

Vienna: Empire, Dynasty And Dream launched on Thursday at 9pm with 610,000/3%, BBC4’s second best this week. The best of Sebag Montefiore’s 2012 Rome series was the second episode on 12 December (800,000/3%), while the best of 2013’s Istanbul was the 5 December opener (800,000/3%).

ITV2’s Celebrity Juice: Christmas Special achieved 1.2 million/ 8% on Thursday at 10pm, spookily the same as its previous 2016 best, 27 October’s Halloween Special (1.2 million/8%). ITV2’s The Xtra Factor Live finale drew 680,000/ 4% at 10.05pm on Sunday; last year’s achieved 700,000/5%.

E4’s best was The Big Bang Theory on Wednesday at 8.30pm with 1.2 million/5%.
