The Vitec Group has revealed that sales of its camera systems, peripherals and accessories have stabilized in the second half of 2009 following a significant decline earlier in the year.

An interim report stated that margins have also improved, aided by a £22m cost reduction programme.

The Kingston-Upon-Thames headquartered company said that there was now evidence of some previously deferred orders now being placed within its Videocom broadcast services division.

However, the company’s US services department is said to still be experiencing ongoing weak demand from broadcasters.

The Group’s net debt is now £48.4 million compared to £52.6 million at 30 June 2009.

The board said: “[Our] expectation of trading performance for the year is unchanged. The decisive and well targeted cost saving actions already announced are on track and will lead to improving profitability in the second half.”

Vitec owns a number of manufacturers and suppliers including Anton Bauer (pictured).
