NAB 2014: Vitec Videocom, a division of the Vitec Group, has agreed to acquire prompter firm Autocue from venture capital firm Root Capital.

Vitec Videocom said that Autocue, which was established in 1955 would complement its portfolio of products for the broadcast, pro-videography, corporate and public sectors.

It said: “The acquisition will help to ensure that customers receive a broader range of technologies and solutions that address the entire spectrum of requirements for studio and outside broadcast applications in terms of size and functionality.”

Root Capital bought the company from Autocue International for around £2m in 2005.
