Brief Grade and online for a 4 x 60-minute series in which explorer Levison Wood treks 1,800 miles along the spine of the Americas from Mexico to Colombia.
How it was done With much of the footage self-shot by the explorers, the task for colourist Zeb Chadfield, using DaVinci Resolve, was to achieve a nice balance throughout and to use colour to indicate the time of day.
He also embraced the vibrant colours of the scenery while highlighting changes due to the weather.
For the online, Calum Renaud used Photoshop to create the subtitles, captions and credits, and then Resolve to assemble the elements.
A collaborative workflow was established for this process, with a shared database linked across a local network allowing Chadfield and Renauld to work on a sequence simultaneously.
