News crews from CNN and Sky have begun using a standard videophone system connected to a specialised tracking satellite phone antenna to shoot what they are calling 'historic images' during coverage of the war with Iraq. CNN told Broadcastthat the antenna has the ability to lock onto a satellite beacon and remain stationary. Sky has been using the system on the USS Kitty Hawk over the last week with journalists James Furlong and Richie Vale. It is the first time the crews have been able to shoot high-quality moving footage using a videophone.
