Taking place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, the Edinburgh TV Festival draws thousands of delegates to find out the latest news and TV trends. As well as hearing insights into some of TV’s major debates, such as the Steve Hewlett Debate on duty of care, it offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from senior commissioners.

Meet the Controllers, a popular strand of talks throughout the festival, allows attendees to hear directly from the likes of BBC1 controller Charlotte Moore, Channel 5’s Ben Frow and Channel 4’s Ian Katz, as they outline their commissioning needs and forecast the year ahead.

At the ConnectED Hub, speed meetings with over 90 commissioners will be ongoing throughout the festival, with commissioners from around the world providing ample pitching opportunities.

Every year the festival offers a jam-packed schedule, with several events happening at any one time, with the exception of the Mactaggart Lecture. This year’s keynote speaker is Channel 4’s head of news and current affairs Dorothy Byrne.

With a multiple of events occurring throughout the festival, it’s almost impossible to fit in everything you want to, but for those looking to remind themselves what a commissioner is looking for before a speed meeting or those who would rather spend an hour with Louis Theroux over Ian Katz’s controller session, Broadcast Intelligence is on hand to help.

The Commissioner Index currently contains 420 profiles of active commissioners across the UK and the US. The service is updated daily and includes insights into what commissioners are looking for, as well as information about tariffs, audience breakdowns and contact details, arming you with the tools to perfect your pitch.

The Broadcast Intelligence research team will be attending commissioner talks as well as meeting with commissioners and showcasing the service.

If you need a break from the wealth of information provided by the festival, stop by the Broadcast Intelligence stand. We’ll be in the EdTV Village, where the team will be on hand to chat to you about commissioners, and maybe challenge you to a game of ping pong.
