Remote working, Ultra HD cameras and live broadcast over IP will be among the big themes at this year’s Amsterdam trade show.

IBC 2013

1,500 stands, 50,000 square meters of stand space, 14 halls and somewhere in the region of 50,000 visitors.

And yet you could probably boil the whole of IBC 2014 down to just two acronyms: UHD (Ultra High-Definition) and IP (Internet Protocol).

Along with remote working (which itself requires IP) these are the topics that are likely to attract the most attention in Amsterdam.

“After a year of manufacturer-driven bluster, it will be interesting to see the current reality of all things 4K,” says The Farm North director of operations Brian Hardman.

“The recent BBC R&D trials at the Commonwealth Games throw up a number of potentially disruptive technology concepts around working with IP for 4K. It will be interesting to see if the manufacturing community is aligning itself with this as it could be a major sea change in live working going forward.”
