This year’s Wimbledon tennis championships will be shot in 3D for the first time.

The men’s singles semi-finals and the ladies’ and men’s singles finals will be screened live in 3D-equipped cinemas.

Sony will work with SuperVision Media, their theatrical distribution partners, to show the matches in cinemas around the world.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club will provide the 3D content to interested global broadcasters with 3D capabilities.

President of Sony Europe Fujio Nishida said: “With the live 3D Wimbledon experience available in hundreds of 3D cinemas across the world, many more people will be able to enjoy one of the world’s most iconic sporting events as though they were actually at Wimbledon.”
