WRN Broadcast is hoping to cultivate a media village that will rival Soho after making office space adjacent to its Vauxhall playout centre available for rent.

The transmission company has bought a three-storey building and hopes that flexible facilities, cheap office space and a “culture for increased creativity” will attract like-minded broadcast companies.

WRN Broadcast managing director David Treadway said: “The vision is for complementary companies to develop a creative community. We hope to create a media hub that could eventually rival Soho or Shoreditch.”

The first tenant is ethical entertainment channel broadcaster OHTV, which is basing itself in a purpose-built studio put together by WRN Broadcast that includes lighting and gantries, a gallery and a green room.

WRN Broadcast’s Media Centre (pictured) provides playout, content management and file delivery, satellite and fibre distribution, VoD, IPTV and mobile services, data centres and channel management.
