WRN Broadcast has revealed details of its soon-to-be-completed £1.4m media centre, which it hopes will help it to compete with the big UK playout operators.

The new facility at the company’s Vauxhall headquarters will allow the international broadcast services firm to provide a wider range of TV and radio services including ingest, content management, playout, encoding and
worldwide distribution via fibre and satellite.

Studio, data centre, streaming, VoD and channel management services are also being made available.

“When the media centre opens fully, we will have better facilities than a lot of our competitors,” said WRN Broadcast managing director David Treadway.

“We’re not a technology company but we use the best technology to provide the best services for our clients. To establish a reputation, you can’t do playout with a system made up of Meccano and elastic bands.”

The new media centre will include the Pharos Mediator 4 workflow management platform, Omneon Video Networks servers, Harmonic encoding and multiplexing technology, and Evertz monitoring and alarm systems.

The company has also doubled the size of its technical team as it gears up for bigger projects.

WRN Broadcast, previously known as WRN, was recently awarded the contract to provide content management and multichannel playout for Top Up TV.
