CBeebies has acquired a reworking of The Foundation’s popular pre-school show Waybuloo, which is narrated by Come Dine With Me’s Dave Lamb.
The as-yet-unnamed 50-part series, which is 11 minutes long rather than the original’s 19 minutes, will air on the channel next year.
The new format will have a particular focus on Lamb’s humorous narration in an attempt to engage parents who are watching with their children, but it will retain the mix of animation and live action, along with its focus on children’s emotions.
CBeebies is the first broadcaster to have picked up the kids’ show, with Zodiak Rights looking to distribute it internationally at next week’s Mipcom.
- Title: Unnamed Waybuloo reworking

Zodiak Media Group chief executive of kids and family in the UK, Middle East, Asia and Africa Nigel Pickard said the new format “adds a whole extra dimension to the Waybuloo brand and will complement the existing episodes perfectly while enhancing the family co-viewing experience”.
The original Waybuloo format currently airs in 80 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Italy.
