Damon Pattison is to leave Lucky Day, the Zodiak Media indie he founded in 2008.

Pattison has stepped down from his role as managing director of the company, which produces CBBC’s Driving Academy, in a bid to find a new challenge.

Broadcast understands that his departure, which was announced internally last week, came as a surprise to some insiders, even though it was his own decision.

Pattison also had wider responsibilities, helping lead development across Zodiak’s other UK indies, which include Bwark Productions and RDF Television.

Hamish Barbour, the managing director of Zodiak’s IWC, will now oversee Lucky Day in addition to Bullseye Productions - a role he was handed following the departure of Ed Crick in December last year.

Lucky Day’s other shows include Channel 4 property show Secret Location and CBBC’s School of Silence, as well as E4’s dating flop Love Shaft.
