Sky commissioning editor Richard Ackerman is leaving the broadcaster after two years.

Richard Ackerman

The former Chatty Man executive producer joined Sky in 2015 as a non-scripted commissioner reporting to Celia Taylor, who left the business last month.

Part of the team responsible for ordering shows including Harry Hill’s Tea Time and comedy panel game show Bring the Noise, Ackerman was also responsible for commissioning 14-part chat show The Russell Howard Hour, which is due to air next year.

Other shows included Duck Quacks Don’t Echo, Election Newsroom Live and Sky Arts’ three-parter Lenny Henry’s Got The Blues.

Sky’s head of non-scripted and director of Sky Arts Phil Edgar-Jones said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Richard for all his creative input, energy and enthusiasm and wish him every success in the future.”

He is due to leave at the end of the year.

Prior to joining Sky, Ackerman forged ties with Sebastian Scott’s Predictable Media hub to establish production business Room 414, which was responsible for Channel 4 series Party House.
