Playout firm Encompass has appointed Brett Belinsky to the role of managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

He will replace Ian Whitfield, who was appointed UK managing director in May last year.

A spokeswoman for Encompass said Whitfield stepped down earlier this month to pursue other opportunities.

Based in London, Belinsky will oversee operations at the Stephen Street playout facility, including channel origination, satellite and fibre transmission and digital media asset management.

He has also been tasked with growing the business across the EMEA region.

Belinsky joins Encompass from Arqiva, where he was strategy, business and market development director for just over four years.

He also serves as chairman of the board for the World Teleport Association.

He will start his new role with Encompass from January next year.

US-headquartered Encompass acquired Ascent Media’s playout business two years ago for £76m.

As well as the London facility, Encompass has playout operations in the US and Singapore.
