Bristol-based consultancy Hello Charlie is behind the design of the new series of Big Brother.

Hello Charlie has designed the titles for the last six years of Big Brother’s 11-year run on Channel 4, but this is the first time it has also designed the eye.

The design firm worked with Channel Five’s in-house design team and the creative team at production company Endemol for the latest series, which TXs this evening.

The creative team was lead by creative directors Paul Tigwell and Jason Mullings who worked alongside senior designers Neil Harris and Tom Hodgkinson.

Harris said: “Because it’s a new channel it’s a new programme, but you have to maintain people’s expectations for Big Brother as an iconic brand while encompassing Channel 5’s core values with a design that really symbolises the channel.”

Hello Charlie said it used an icon based on the idea of a “hybrid of the human and the mechanical”.

It aimed to use the basic structure of the eye to create a logo that can be adapted for future series across print, online, television and other media.
