Broadcast graphics company Moov has won the contract to provide graphics, virtual reality and telestration services for ITV’s horseracing coverage.

ITV’s exclusive four-year deal to show UK horseracing on terrestrial television began with its coverage of the New Year’s Day meeting at Cheltenham.

The coverage will encompass live broadcasts of almost 100 days of racing each year across ITV’s channels.

Moov will be involved in 41 days of racing broadcast on ITV’s main channel, including coverage of the Grand National, the Epsom Derby, the Cheltenham Festival and Royal Ascot.

“We’re incredibly proud to have won this prestigious contract with ITV,” said Moov director Nev Appleton.

“The leading-edge graphics technology that is now available, combined with the artistic talents of our staff, enables us to present all the race information people need in innovative new ways.”

At each race meeting, Moov will provide a dedicated OB vehicle housing graphics technology including two dual-channel ChyronHego Mosaic turnkey graphics platforms.

The Virtual Placement feature utilises scene-tracking technology to overlay virtual furlong markers, finish lines and winning jockey silks on the grass, while Paint is used to telestrate on the action, tagging horses to help identify each one, as well as providing highlights and tracking tools.

Paint integrates with an EVS network to allow clips to move backwards and forwards without tying up VT layout lines.

RaceBuilder software from Piranha Graphics incorporates live race data into the on-screen graphics, including runners and riders, condition of the course and betting information.
