US-headquartered production equipment provider VER (Video Equipment Rentals) has moved into the broadcast lighting rental market following the acquisition of London-based Aurora Lighting Hire.
Aurora will retain its name, staff and services.
VER European sales director Adrian Offord said “VER currently provides lighting services to, amongst others, the concert touring industry in the States.
“When servicing world tours from the US, for the likes of Taylor Swift and the Foo Fighters, we have supported the European leg from our London base. But up to this point we have not actively pursued lighting business within the UK.
“The Aurora deal was a natural progression; we provide video kit for some of the same shows that Aurora works on, such as The Voice and Children in Need. We have worked hand in hand - they are a good bunch of guys, with the same outlook in terms of the kind of service they provide.
“The infrastructure, in terms of Aurora managing director Nick Edwards and office and warehouse staff will stay the same. Initially, Aurora remain where they are but the plan is to consolidate all of us in one location.”
