Envy is investing £2m in almost doubling the size of its Rathbone Place premises.

The London-based post facility will increase its size from 15,000 sq ft to 25,000 sq ft with 18 more Avid offline suites, an additional Autodesk Flame Premium for its VFX department, and another online room equipped with Avid’s Symphony.

The company is also investing in more Avid Icon kit for its audio studio, which Envy director and founder Natascha Cadle said will make it the biggest in the UK.

“We are expanding due to the increasing demand from our existing long- and short-form clients, but also from our growing client base,” Cadle said.

She added that the first round of building work will be completed by the end of July, with the entire project finished in August.

Headcount at Rathbone Place will rise by 10, taking the total number of Envy staff to around 165.

“We also have plans for expansion beyond London, but nothing firm yet,” Cadle said. “London is important to us and we don’t ever want to dilute the service.”

Technology supplier Tyrell CCT provided Envy with workflow consultancy services and will also install the Avid systems, which include 16 Media Composer Mojo DX v5.5 systems on HP Z800 workstations connected to a 64TB Isis 5000 shared storage system.
