The AES convention will return to London for the first time in 23 years next month but with a smaller than usual show.

The 128th Convention of the AES (Audio Engineering Society), the international audio technology organisation and standards body, takes place May 22-25 at the Novotel Convention Centre in Hammersmith.

Roger Furness, the executive director of the AES, said: “We’re delighted that the AES has returned to London after so many years. The exhibition is a smaller show than in previous years, but we think that’s appropriate given the economic difficulties we’ve all been going through over the last 18 months.

“But the mood is upbeat. We’ve got a fine cross-section of companies announcing new and exciting products at the show, and supporting the pro-audio industry in one of its strongest markets, the UK.”

Content at the show will include technical presentations, discussion sessions and workshops.

Speakers will cover a range of subjects including psychoacoustic research, forensic audio restoration techniques, surround sound, running commercial studios and producing audio soundtracks for console and computer games.

The associated equipment exhibition takes place in the neighbouring Novotel Exhibition Hall.
