Alias Hire’s central London office was broken into last night.

Thieves made off with Sony decks and drives worth around £30,000, including an HDW-M2000 (pictured), a J-H3 some U2s and a U1.

Alias Hire managing director Mike Smith said he believed the kit had been stolen to order.

“[The thieves] smashed through the doors of all the offices on our floor but they only stole from our office. No-one else in the building had anything taken,” he said.

“They left some of the heavier items and only took those that were easier to carry out.”

As well as its Kings Cross office, Alias has premises in Hackney and Manchester and Smith said the loss would not have any adverse impact on the company’s ability to trade.

“Fortunately we had lots of kit out on hire,” he added.
