Alias Smith and Singh has purchased a unit of Canon’s new XF305 camcorder that it will add to its camera hire fleet.

The camera can record MPEG2 MXF full HD 4:2:2 at 50Mbps.

Managing director Mike Smith said the camera poses a suitable cost saving alternative to other 50Mbps camcorders.

“As soon as we saw the launch of this product a few weeks ago we wanted to give an opportunity to our customers to shoot at 50Mbps and give them the reassurance on what they deliver to the broadcaster is 100 per cent,” he said.

Meanwhile, the company has provided a Sony SRW5800 VTR to post house Preditors to enable it to create its first stereoscopic 3D deliverables.
