AOL has taken the next step to becoming a regular UK content commissioner by giving the greenlight to a weekly broadband show made by TwoFour.

Mr Paparazzi Showis a six-week trial series of five-minute clips looking at the weekly top five celebrity stories and snaps. It is hosted by celebrity paparazzo Darryn Lyons and is part of a planned roll-out of programming with Lyons and his photography agency Big Pictures.

The show has begun airing on http://www.aol.co.uk in the Eleven content area, which targets a female audience with celebrity news, gossip, games and quizzes during the typical 11am mid-morning break.

AOL commercial development director Niall McOnegal said it was increasingly looking for TV-style programming for the web. 'We have active dialogue with all the main players but budgets are not on a par with those of broadcasters,' he said. 'We don't get broadcast-style audiences so the budgets are not in the same league.'

AOL made a high-profile move into the UK content business last year with a live broadcast from Jamie Oliver's house in Essex by the chef's indie, Fresh One Productions.
