The Associated Press (AP) today began delivering video news in high definition.

AP has completed the transition to HD ahead of next month’s 2012 Olympics and the US presidential elections in November.

AP’s vice president and director of international video news Sandy MacIntyre said: “AP has completely transformed its video business from camera to customer.

“As well as working with new cameras and cutting-edge editing and transmission software, we now have more video journalists providing regionally relevant content from more places than ever before.”

AP began its shift to HD with entertainment news in November last year, followed by sports news via its joint venture with Sports News Television (SNTV) in January.
