Sky Sports will produce key international Speedway fixtures in HD after agreeing a deal with Arqiva.

The facilities arm of Arqiva will deploy two high def OB trucks, 27 cameras and up to 65 staff at the UK legs of the Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup from this season.

The move has been made to meet demand from Eastern European countries where the sport is particularly popular and HD technology is increasingly available.

Darren Long, head of Sky Sports operations, said: “Arqiva provides Sky with standard definition coverage of over forty speedway meetings each year. [Adding] Arqiva's high definition technology and expertise [will] further enhance our viewers' enjoyment of this exciting and entertaining sport.”

The deal is already in place and trucks were used earlier this summer in Cardiff, at the Speedway Grand Prix, and Coventry, at the Speedway World Cup.

Arqiva has provided Sky Sports with facilities for Speedway coverage for the last nine years.
