Ascent Media has brought in Martin Poultney from Technicolor to head their new group restoration, archiving and mastering team aimed at the film and TV markets.

Poultney, who has been appointed manager, archive restoration, will be joined by Ray King, supervising colourist for the group; John Sears, production director for Soho Images and Mark Bonnici, media management services.

'The group restoration team has been set up to cater to the obvious and growing demand for archive, restoration and mastering because clients are increasingly realising that they have to future proof their assets,' explained Poultney.

Poultney, who will mastermind the group's activities, said: 'I'll be the point of focus so that clients can use the facilities within the group to best effect. The creation of this new team means we'll be able to co-ordinate and manage Ascent's archive and restoration resources directly but we will cater to client preference of facilities.'

Poultney left 4MC in 2001 to become Technicolor bookings and projects manager.

Following four weeks of preparation, the new group is ready to operate.

King has worked for over 30 years as a film colourist and was recently appointed as supervising colourist for the group in conjunction with setting up the new team. He has worked at St Anne's Post, Soho Images and Todd-AO Creative Services, where he is currently based.
